Deteriorated Quality of Indian Education - Some more factors

In continuation to my previous blog, please find some more factors contributing towards the deterioration in the Quality of Education in India.
Underutilized Educational cess: As per the tax system in India, every citizen is contributing towards education through the Education Cess. But when it comes to distribution of the collected fund, only limited institutions (Esp. Government) get the privilege to avail it for whatever the proposal is. For other institutions, there are a number of limitation, which make them impossible to avail the benefits. And it was published that, the underutilized funds are transferred to MHRD. Instead it may be distributed to the deserving Institutions to improve the Research in India.

Contribution in Research: Though we have a heavy population, our contribution in World research is too low. This is because of the poverty of most of the population, forces them to go to job after their +2 or at the maximum a UG degree. Even those who register for the research need to spend huge amount to the University and the so called supervisors. The UGC also look at the paper and not the knowledge acquired. It is reported that, only Indian research papers have maximum plagiarism. And most of the research reports are not written but bought. The governments are interested in distributing free bees to attract the voters and make the society useless but never show interest in encouraging the research.
Re-framing of Syllabus: The syllabus set by the University is revised only after three or four years, whereas the technology changes every day. There is no mechanism to include the latest technologies and they are given as Add-on courses by very few institutions. If not for all the streams, the university may introduce contemporary topics to those courses which see frequent changes in the industry. A refresher course may be provided to the faculty at the beginning of every year to keep them updated.
Misguidance of parents: Accumulating wealth has become the primary concerns for families. Both the parents go for job leaving the kids under somebody’s surveillance leaves lot of spaces for the kids to go wrong. Also, to avoid the disturbances from the kids they are diverted in different directions leading to unwanted learning in behaviour. This lead to loss of moral values and children are engaged in unwanted practices in school, unethical behaviour and uninterested in learning that they ought to do.
Prosperity of Politicians: India has a very strong and long history of Politics. The only field with no qualification requirement in India is Politics. But unfortunately, the growth of the country is based on the decisions taken by these politicians. In India, the powers and authority are well misused to make wealth and to make the known circle wealthy. In very little incidents it is used for the common public and serves the purpose. In all other countries, the people with relevant qualifications to its highest order become the head of that field and so they could evidently see growth in that sector. But in India, once they become the head of the sector gains the qualification of its highest order. One thing to be appreciated is the way they acquire the qualification is so perfect that everything is made legal, and no proof can be ascertained. Why I write all these is, this gives the students a wrong example to concentrate in other untoward practices rather that studies.
Unwanted free bees: The revenue generated by the Government through various taxes and other methods are not utilized properly. Instead of spending on developing the country, they spend a lot in free bees to attract the poor. It can be spent on education to strengthen the knowledge of the Nation. The free bees given by the Government, makes the people more lethargic instead of making them productive. Thereby the efforts of somebody is wasted by somebody for the unproductive somebody. These funds may also be spent for research activities to increase the standard of the education and intern the country.
Non-existence of infrastructure in Government Institutions: In today’s scenario, the parents prefer to put their wards in Private institutions, because of the infra structure and other facilities. And for that they charge exorbitant fees to maintain the decorum. Though, the government collect enough fund, they don’t spend on improving the infrastructure of the Government Institutions at school level. Also, the teachers don’t have the intention to update them and create an environment to attract students.

The caste system in education: If we look into the history of caste system in India, it is quite confusing. But in the early Independence era, it helped in distributing the power and authority to all class of people in India. It supported the lower category people to come up and get recognized in the society. But still, the discrimination among the people never eradicated. However, the science developed, human could not understand that GOD created all as equal. Every individual has talent some trait, which may be in any field. If we train them in the interested field they can shine and do wonders. So, we can find a way to categorize people based on their talent. The prevailing system creates a barrier in the mind of the people to utilize the quota and not to empower their skills. Slowly, we can remove this barrier and induce the competitiveness in the people and crate a healthy competition to improve the standard of education. The deserving should get the deserving course / job.

  1. Well said Professor Moses, the problem in today's education system are in chaotic order. Whom to be blamed, the Sarkar, Policy makers, Implementer or the Assessor. People have very high order of thinking but when it comes to action teaching professionals are getting carried away with their selfish stigma. Failure occurs from there. Realizing the factors, even after identifying the source of mistakes if it is not getting corrected, we know where it leads to. Educationalist are the change agent to realize and lead the profession in a noble path.

Request to revamp the society

Everyone in this world is born to live and enjoy the life, is not something new to talk about. All who took ten months to fall in this world have and provided with equal opportunities and skill sets, may be in different field at different levels. But the basic need for everyone is same to fulfill. So, all of us are trying to learn and work towards the accomplishments of those needs. These needs are fulfilled at different levels based on the capacity of the individual, who are the responsible participants of a society. The nature of the society, we live in, depends on the nature of the individuals who are part of it. And every society has its own style and culture to follow. These culture and values should be known to everyone in that society and must respect it to have a peaceful living. The democracy can be applied to the extent of an individual and should not affect the other members of the society. Now coming to the point, we all know well that our society respects all those w...

Who can create a Peaceful Society

Any person in any part of the world has every right to have a peaceful life in his/her own country and this priority is called as Citizen of the country. It is the profound duty of the Government, which collects the tax from the public with the promise of providing the same. When the public fail to pay tax, the Government uses its authority and power to collect from the individual. But, what if the Government fails to fulfil the promise? Who is responsible for the failure? Whom usually people blame for the failures of the Government are the politicians. And it is the wide spread idea. But it is totally wrong. Yes of course, they are the decision makers. We all know the background of all those politicians (the so called representatives of the people). They are elected by us, with all good consciousness to represent us and to bring fortune for us (which comes only for the election). But, do you think they are implementing all those initiatives based on their thinking or idea?...
Education is the back bone of any country. For the development from Agricultural status to Industrial Status and further, the education is the only channel. So it is very vital to structure an efficient and consistent system to impart knowledge in the minds of the citizens. However, it is the role of the Government to streamline the various rules and regulations regarding the implementation of the system. We the Indians fail in most of the implementation. The primary reason for this failure in implementation and devaluation in quality is due to the value given to the citizens of India. In all other countries, the Citizens are paid high and then the expats, except for any exclusive cases but only in India, the citizens are paid the least than expats except for any exclusive case. This shows that, India can never be a super power, more over not allowed by own leaders to become a super power. As far as the higher education is concerned, there are so many factors that pull down the growt...
